We have some exciting updates to share about what’s happening here on YouTube and across our social media and we just wanted to take a moment to explain what’s changing and why!
First things first — you may have already noticed that our YouTube handle has changed. It was Country Cottage and Cafe and it has now been updated to Country Cottage and Sister Roots. This is because we are evolving more and more into the Sister Roots Farm brand and it was time for our handle to reflect that. There are more details about Sister Roots Farm over on our website if you want to check that out.
We are really excited about these changes and here is a big part of why — we want to start a Seed to Bloom series. We are in Zone 8A here in Alabama and when we were first starting our gardening journey we noticed that there just wasn’t a lot of content out there specific to our zone. There is information out there, don’t get me wrong. But most of what we found was geared toward zones 5, 6, and maybe 7. We really couldn’t find much specific to Zone 8A and that made things harder than it needed to be.
So that’s exactly what the Seed to Bloom series is going to be. We want to take you along the full journey — from when something is started from seed, through the in between growing stages, from when it gets transplanted outside all the way to when it actually blooms or produces. Whether that’s flowers, vegetables, fruit trees or something else — the goal is to give you a real picture of what growing in Zone 8A looks like from start to finish.
Our long term vision is to bring Country Cottage and Cafe fully to life while also transitioning and building out Sister Roots Farm alongside it because Sister Roots Farm is going to be the foundation of everything.
